Using her ability to create characters that mirror the world around us, Susan Barnett gives the world THE VIEW FROM OUTSIDE. I enjoyed this book and wanted more from each story, mainly because the individuals we meet are easy to understand and their situations are not too far from our own.
As I was going through the book I was able to remember what we say about the view from the outside is sometimes different from what the reality is. This is what Barnett showcases in this work. Inside the things we see is the truth. It's just up to us to appreciate it and be able to accept it.
Moving from beginning to end, this is a work that will be able to appeal to readers of all interests.
A fun and entertaining read. Insightful observations on the human condition, state of mind. I thoroughly enjoyed each piece. Well done.
This compilation of stories is like a wild and wise romp through life. Barnett's ability to bring us fully into the lives of others -- at eye level -- so that we can see with full exposure the twists and turns of the human condition is absolutely masterful. The stories are so penetrating that I find myself repeating them to others to share the lessons learned as if I lived them myself. Bravo, and more please.
every story in this fabulous collection sings with honesty, and an ear for dialogue that is unnering. the characters are people we recognize immediately--- our parents, brothers, siblings, husbands and wives. This book is a collection of short stories packed with emotions. Susan Barnett has a very pleasant, easy to read style and right from the first few lines of the stories, she will pull you right in the heart of it all. I read the entire book in an afternoon. I could not leave it, or take a break. I had to read the next story, and the next and the next. There are some moments you will find yourself shedding a few tears, some moments where you will be sucked into a little love adventure and some supernatural moments too that will make you sit back and think about life and our perception of it. I absolutely loved every minute of reading this book and can not wait to read more from her.
